Open Track Challenge Preparation Begins

Early February 2004

OpentrackChallenge For those of you who don't know what it is.

The Plan
I have set my goals not too lofty. Don't Be Last and keep the shiny side up. I figure we can swing this as:

A.) I am never the slowest guy when I go to the local track. Even in the advanced groups.

B.) My car is relatively new. There is bound to be something old that breaks down.

C.) Someone in my group (T3) will likely wreck...before I do. Meaning they DNF'd first.

D.) I have spent lots of dough on Cheating Bastard go fast parts.

I decided that the Vishnu stage 1 package just wasn't going to cut it for this event. So, it was time to go to from Defcon 4 to Defcon 2. The fact of the matter is, I am a slow driver (compared to the other OTC guys, Not you track n00b's). :) I realize that by starting this now for an event in Mid April we are tempting raceflais with way too much new stuff to try and get installed by the middle of April. For instance, my turbo supplier just told me it was going to be next month instead of next week. :(

The List of go fast parts that we have purchased for OTC so far

I think I read that Wayne is already putting down 277awhp in his EVO. I am going to have buy lots of stuff to try and not be last. Keep in mind I already have a Vishnu Stage 1 kit.

Power Mods
1.)Apexi Intake
2.)GT Spec Headers (Jet Hot Coated)
3.)APS DR650 FMIC
4.)GodSpeed Spec-S Kit (GT25R Turbo)
5.)Greddy E-Manage
6.)Greddy E-01 Boost Controller

Hmmm. I think thats it. I'll update it if I think of more...or I buy more.

Well, If I am going to be making all that power, I am going to have to keep the car cool.

Cooling Mods
1.)Godspeed Radiator
2.)160 Degree Thermostat

Well, there is no point in going fast if you can't brake last.

Brake Mods
1.)Motul 600 brake fluid [installed]
2.)Stainless Steel Brake Lines [installed]
3.)Carbotech Panther Pads [installed]
4.)Speedbleeders
I should probably pick up a spare set of front rotors too.

What good is braking last if you can't turn fast.

Suspension Mods
1.)Whiteline Front Strut Tower Bar [installed]
2.)Whiteline Rear Strut Tower Bar [installed]
3.)Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit [installed]
4.)WhiteLine Steering Rack Bushings [installed]
5.)Whiteline Adjustable Rear Control Arms [installed]
5.)Perrin Adjustable Rear Sway Bar [installed]
6.)Perrin Drop Links[installed]
7.)TEIN RA Coilovers [installed]
8.)Falken Azenis [installed]
I may be forgetting something here. I you see it mail me and let me know.
I am short on time to order parts.

With all these go fast, stop fast, and turn fast, parts, I better keep an eye on this thing. I already have Boost, EGT, and Oil Pressure guages installed.

Monitoring Mods
1.)PSI 3
I am considering a wide band 02 sensor. Feel free to let me know what you think.

All that stuff above is good. Safety is priority one though.

Safety Mods
1.)Speedware Harness Bar [installed]
2.)Schroth Rallye Harnesses (Normally $300 dollars, I got this pair for $80, cuz they are purple. I had to save some money somewhere)[installed]
2.1) Crap. So the purple harness are bolt style when I ordered wrap. I had to switch to the regular style. I am getting to at least return them since they weren't what I ordered. I now have the super fat Cam Lock harness. No money saved what so ever.
3.)We need new helmets. Not Yet Purchased. I'll update when we do.
3.1)Helmet ordered I got a good deal on a nice Bell Helmet from Frey Racing
3.2)Helmet [installed]
4.)We also have to get a fire extinguisher. I'll update this one too.
