I-Speed Dyno Run

February 25th, 2004

Dyno Time
Mods are almost useless if you don't know what kind of power you are really making. There have been rumors of my last dyno run being very underpowered compared to what everyone else is making with similar setups around the country. I have also run several highly calibrated ButtDyno's which don't believe the first numbers to be anywhere near accurate.

So after talking to one of the guys at I-Speed USA we organized some time for a dyno run. I-Speed sent master tuner Bill Knose who met us at ATP in Fremont. Bill showed up in his very cool RS-T conversion.

Shane and I cleared our calendars of meetings for an extra hour and decided to take lunch at the dyno shop. Bill showed up shortly after we did. ATP opened up the garage for us and we helped push a couple cars into the lot as ATP wasn't supposed to drive the customer cars. There were some very nice pieces of german machinery there. Among them was also the most bad ass VW Beetle I have ever seen. 500HP of incredible Volkswagen.

Bill threw the STi on the dyno and got it rolling for a few minutes to dry the tires. Once that was done he got ready for a few runs. He got things rolling and a few short minutes later we had some new numbers and this time we managed to get some a/f numbers too. The spike on the a/f chart is just apparently a problem w/ the O2 sensor, not my car since Bill's data logging didn't show any anomalies.

New Numbers: Horsepower: 288.1 Torque : 292.9 There is a video available if you go through our gallery
